The Design Ethics essay everyone needs to read

Design Leaders are taking a strong stance for a more ethically created internet.

I'm doing a deep dive on Design Leaders for a content production client and ran across this article that stopped me in my tracks. The world needs a tech diet; here is now designers can help, written by Fabricio Teixeira and Caio Braga, is a piercing look at the ethics of design that have brought us to this age of digital distraction, and what better UX design can do to reduce the psycho-emotional distress it is causing.

The introduction of digital products and services into our lives has substantially changed the way our relationship to time, effort, and initiative. We might not think about this all the time, but we are not as in control of those digital tools as we are of the physical ones around us....The new digital tools of our era don’t have natural affordances unless the designer consciously decides to design them in a transparent, honest way.

If you can, read this one on a bigger screen than your phone; the design is fantastic.

I was also thrilled to see my long-time FB friend Cyd Harrell quoted and mentioned as an inspiration for this piece!
